Lingering Thoughts of a Romanticist

I have always been one to dwell in the past

and tend to carry the toils of regret and unfulfillment

But in your presence

I cannot help but gaze into the future

Imaging all the pleasures in store for us

You bring me to the brink of euphoria with each brush of a hand

The tug and pull of temptation

My flesh itches with a ravenous hunger knowing we cannot be

Until we are properly hidden in the deepest shadows most would not dare to tread

They are shameful and bleak

Yet we have made them our home

I have experienced love in the way men are forbidden

and have relished every second of rebellion

I have memorized the expanse of your body

and each crevasse of your soul

I have had the pleasure to truly and thoroughly know you

and it is a treasure I will guard with the entirety of my spirit till I breathe my last
